Hatch Joins LSU
Baton Rouge legend Gayle Hatch has stepped in as the Tigers
strength and conditioning coach for mens basketball. Hatch a member of several
weightlifting, strength and conditioning and basketball halls of fame, assumed his duties
last week. "I met with the players and we got started working Monday," Hatch
said. "They really have a great attitude and knowing that makes me even more
fired up and excited to be involved with the program." Hatch has been a strong
influence on the Tigers in football, basketball and baseball for several years. He
has worked with current LSU basketball players Garrett Temple and Tasmin Michell and
former LSU All American Glen "Big Baby" Davis since they were 13 and received a
Final Four ring last fall for his efforts.
When LSU coach, John Brady, decided to make a change in the Tigers
strength and conditioning program, he sought Hatch's advice. When we decided to make
a change, I realized the best advice we could get was from Gayle Hatch because of what
he's accomplished and what he's done for us through the years," Brady said. In
our conversations with him, it evolved into him deciding he'd like to do it himself, and I
couldn't be happier than to have somebody of his caliber and expertise take over.
